FAQs

I filter all of life through the lens of God’s word, including food and our relationships with food. The Gospel provides a framework for viewing food and our bodies that can help everyone, regardless of one’s situation. We can return to these truths as we work through the lies we’ve believed about food and our bodies, leave destructive food habits behind, and work towards a healthy relationship with food.

Maybe… I say this because weight isn’t a behaviour. My job is to help you heal your relationship with food while you fuel your body with what it needs. You might lose weight when you do this. You also might gain weight. But my hope for you is that weight won’t always be the focus. Instead, we can use other parameters for measuring well-being such as energy levels, less preoccupation with food, increased variety, enjoying eating with others, less fear and anxiety about food, etc.

Can I work with you? Unfortunately, due to provincial regulations, I am only accepting clients in Alberta.

Eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa have established diagnostic criteria. Many people don’t meet all of these criteria but still experience challenges with food. If food causes you grief, if it takes up more space in your life and mind than it should, if it keeps you from living life fully – this is disordered eating. A certain weight, appearance, or age does not define disordered eating.

I’m not. I appreciate what Intuitive Eating brings to the table and will incorporate principles in our work together. But it isn’t my starting place. That’s where I go back to the Gospel and how it informs our views of food and ourselves.

I don’t direct bill; however, I will provide you with an invoice after your session that you can submit to your insurance company. Most group insurance plans, including Manulife, Blue Cross, Sunlife, Canada Life, Green Shield and more, will cover up to $500 for dietitian services. You may also be able to use your health spending account. If you don’t have coverage, the cost of your appointments is considered a tax-deductible medical expense that you can claim.
